Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MoneyShield, our claims process, and how we help you recover money you are owed.
Is the flight check really free?
Yes, checking eligibility is always free. We only charge a 20% success fee if we recover compensation for you. No win, no fee.
What is the 20% success fee?
We charge 20% (inc. VAT) of the total compensation only when we successfully recover money. The fee is deducted before payment to you — you never pay anything upfront.
How long does a claim take?
Most flight claims resolve within 4-12 weeks. Car finance claims through the FCA scheme may take 6-12 months depending on the lender.
Is my personal data safe?
Absolutely. We comply with UK GDPR, use encrypted connections, and never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I claim for old flights?
Yes, under UK law you can claim for flights delayed up to 6 years ago. Under EU law, the limitation period varies by country (typically 2-6 years).
What is EU261 / EC 261/2004?
It's a European regulation that entitles passengers to compensation of €250-€600 for flight delays over 3 hours, cancellations, and denied boarding on qualifying flights.
Which flights are covered?
All flights departing from EU/UK airports with any airline, or flights arriving in the EU/UK operated by EU/UK-based airlines. This includes connecting flights.
What are extraordinary circumstances?
Severe weather, air traffic control strikes, political unrest, or security threats — situations genuinely outside the airline's control. Technical faults and staff strikes are NOT extraordinary circumstances.
Why is car finance free but flights have a fee?
Car finance claims go through the FCA's official redress scheme, which handles the process directly with lenders. Flight claims require us to actively pursue airlines on your behalf, which is why we charge a success fee.
Who is behind MoneyShield?
MoneyShield is operated by Thrivexa Technologies Ltd, a UK-registered consumer rights technology company focused on helping people recover money they're owed.
